At least, some characters die in different ways, and one of the bigger characters (a deputy) has been recast as a woman. If you find yourself getting creeped out, you can just remind yourself that everything is under control (sort of).A remake of "Cabin Fever" could develop itself in an imaginative way, but opts instead to echo huge chunks of the original. The best part about this flick is that it’s incredibly self-aware, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The Cabin in the Woods is a one-of-a-kind film that is as frightening as it is loaded with meta humor. There are zombies, monsters, and other creatures that are all part of an elaborate annual sacrifice that takes place in a number of different regions. Without spoiling too much of the film, we’ll run you through the basics: a group of kids go to a party at a cabin, but far away from the cabin is a council of technicians releasing terrors upon the dwelling remotely. This is a self-aware film that leans aggressively into the “creepy cabin” trope for some moments of absolute terror, but also a ton of laughs.
The Cabin in the Woods is part of its own rare breed of horror comedy that makes the film an instant classic. The film ends up resolving with a somewhat happy ending (and hand to type-writer combat), but the title Misery is suiting, and serves as a cautionary tale about driving in remote areas during a blizzard.
